The artistry of more than 100 jewelers, bakers, weavers, woodworkers and other crafters will be on display at Shawnee Town Museum’s 34th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, September 19 between 9am-4pm.

Shawnee Town museum invites visitors to experience a typical 1920s day in and around the farm community of Shawnee, KS. The Friends of Shawnee Town host the Craft Fair to raise money to support Museum programs.

“Having the Fair on the grounds of a history museum makes this Craft event special,” explained the Craft Fair’s original co-chair, Judy Owens. “We’re so pleased to see that it is still going strong after all these years,” added Owens.

The Friends of Shawnee Town, formerly known as The Shawnee Historical Society, plan the Fair months in advance and spend several days getting the grounds ready. Scores of tents and tables are set up across the Museum’s eight acres. Handmade soaps, embroidery, wood carving, jewelry, baked goods, pottery and more will be on display.

“Some of our visitors have been coming since the fair’s early years,” said Friends of Shawnee Town President, Les Palmer. “The Craft Fair is our biggest fund raiser for the Museum.”

Members of Friends of Shawnee Town are admitted 15 minutes before the gate opens at 9am. Volunteers will be stationed at the entrances between 9am-4pm to collect the $1 entrance donation. Parking is free.

Shawnee Town is located at 11501 W. 57th Street in Shawnee, KS. For more information on The Arts & Crafts Fair call 913-248-2360 or visit www.shawneetown.org .
